What’s new in Maurienne in 2020 ?

Posted 2019 08 26 by Fred

Here's what is going to change for the season 2020!

A brand new headquarter to welcome you!

Still under construction!

Until now, every morning, we met in a small garage to discuss the snow conditions and the weather, before going to pick you up to ski. But we did not have enough space to welcome you and debrief with you there... We moved and from now on, our HQ is heated and designed to welcome you!
We can show you on the maps what we did, what we plan to do, offer you a coffee, drink a beer together!
And also equip you!! If all goes well, we will be able to equip you with skis, available at our HQ by our friend and partner Seb, from "Relief All Mountain Shop". Brand new skis from Blizzard and Salomon, Technica's shoes can be rent!

Mandatory equipment:

We ask you to ski with:
- an ARVA 3 antennas
- a shovel / a probe
- climbing skins and touring bindings
- an ABS bag 25-35L (or equivalent)
- boots with insert

Highly recommended item:  ski crampons
If you go on glacier with your guide, the ice axes and crampons, helmet and harness will be extra.
In case you do not have the necessary equipment, we can rent it to you.

This year, our friend and partner Seb of "Relief All Mountain Shop" will make his equipment available locally. We will have a choice between Salomon and Blizzard.

If you do not want to bother carrying skis, poles, shoes from your house to the airport, just take your shoes with inserts! We take care of renting the rest for you.
You can also use the Luggage Forward service (or equivalent), which will take care of your equipment from home, and deliver to our premises: Alternative - ZA des Favières - Sollières - 73500 VAL CENIS

First day skiing - Avalanche and Safety reminder:
We discussed it at length at the end of the season. All guides agree on this. Regardless of the forecast weather, as of this year, it seems essential to remind you of the avalanche safety rules.

In your first day of skiing, ARVA research exercises will be done and you will be aware of avalanche risks.

Organization of transfers:

We organize transfers on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays.
If you arrive another day and you are less than 4 people, there will be a supplement:
- Geneva or Lyon, + 45 € / pers for 3 people, + 90 € / pers for 2 people
- Turin, + 25 € / pers for 3 people, + 50 € / pers for 2 people

The best options for coming to us are:
- to land in Lyon, to take a highspeed train (TGV)  for Modane. In this case, the price of the package is deducted from 120 €.
- to land and take off in Turin. In this case, the price of the package is deducted from 60 €.
- If you arrive and leave from Geneva or Lyon airport, the price is the package's one.
For Geneva, we ask you to go through the Swiss customs and to go to the "France destination" zone and to follow the P20 car park.

Arrival and departure times:
We ask you to arrive no later than 15.00 in Geneva or Lyon, at the latest at 16.00 in Turin. You can arrive at Modane for 18.00 maximum. This in order to have the time to return to Maurienne and take care of possible rentals the same day, so you can ski directly the next day!

For the day of your departure, we ask you to choose a flight around 14.00, so you do not have to get up too early.

It is essential for us that you follow these instructions in order to organize transfers in the most comfortable way possible for all.

Half-board accommodation:

We attach great importance to making you feel at home. Our partners  offer a similar standing, with a good and friendly service, great french food and are located in small genuine villages.

Accommodations included in the package are shared rooms, at Chalet Les Lioues, Au Coeur des Alpes, at Hotel La Turra ** , or at Hotel du Soleil *** in a triple or quadruple room.
If you want a single room, the price will be higher.

If you want to go to one of our partners such as Le Relais de la Diligence, the Hotel du Soleil *** in a double / twin or single room, or the Hotel Saint-Charles ****, the price will be higher.
