Ski Touring & Splitboarding in Kazakhstan
The quest for early season powder is on!Are you looking for powder to start the ski touring or splitboarding season?
Do you like remote and not crowded mountains?
Welcome to Altay, East Kazakhstan!
Informasjon
East Kazakhstan offers an incredible opportunity for ski touring in remote and pristine mountains. The unspoiled landscapes and abundant snowfall make it an excellent choice for early-season powder. Splitboarding or ski touring in the Altay combines breathtaking terrain with the tranquility of the remote wilderness.
Why East Kazakhstan ?
Central Asia is a fascinating region with a rich history and many different, lively cultures that will leave a lasting impression. From a skier or snowboarder's point of view, the main reasons for traveling to Kazakhstan are the early snowfalls and the cold Siberian climate.
They guarantee us good conditions early in the winter.
But even if the hunt for powder is number one, here are a few other reasons to discover the Altay:
- Nobody in the area but us, the guests from the lodge
- Excellent terrain, from 700 to 1800m altitude, with a great choice of runs for all weather and conditions.
- The safety, thanks to a professional local operator.
- The genuine and cozy lodging in Yurts
- The food experience with outstanding cuisine from Central Asia.
Where is it, and how to get there?
Get ready for an exciting journey!
You will fly to Almaty (or possibly Astana) before proceeding with a connecting flight to Ust-Kamenogorsk.
Following this, you will transfer to the final destination using a combination of bus and snowmobile transportation. The lodge is in a mountain range located northeast of Kazakhstan, towards the Russian border.
We will be picked up and dropped off on Saturdays, don't hesitate to get in touch with us before booking your flights.
The lodge
The lodge is a camp constructed of yurts, offering unexpectedly high levels of comfort despite its remote location in the mountains!
Three 50-square-meter yurts are designated for guests. Each one is divided into four rooms, each equipped with a double bed.
Heated by a wood stove, the yurts provide a cozy space with ample room for all your belongings and for drying your clothes after skiing.
A larger yurt serves as the communal dining area, providing plenty of space for relaxation, socializing, and enjoying a nice evening after a day out skiing or snowboarding.
The banya (sauna) is housed in a separate wooden building; four bathrooms are close to it.
